Review on Wolo Dominator 125-12 Stainless Steel Dual Trumpet Marine Horns - Low and High Tone, 12 Volt (Chrome) by Kevin Pirlet

Easiest boat/train horn

Although I chose this fully electric horn duo for a project that required a large siren as an alarm, I now want one for my truck! a tight fit where there was no room for an air compressor like other train/boat horns. We wanted everything to be electric and this device caught our attention. Upon receiving and opening it we were very impressed with the strength of the steel on this unit and the dual brackets. Once set it will not move. We connected it to a 12V battery but only 5A and expected it to take a lot more amps to run (like a car battery) but we were wrong! This thing burst our eardrums! It has a very low current draw, meaning it won't drain your boat's battery or anything else you plug it into. If it can run on 5 amps, it can power any 12 volt car battery. Just for comparison, I touched the wires on the terminals of my truck's 850 amp battery. Yes, it was a little louder than my 5 amp battery test, but as loud as any train horn you'll hear. I couldn't imagine them being a couple in the same car. that would be deafening. So don't think that just because it's electric, that brass kit won't work. In fact, I'd like to compare it to an air system of the same size, and I bet it would be close. These horns are quite long (over 30cm each - one is about 2 inches longer than the other) so be sure to check the specs for your setup.
