Handled a tropical storm, hit 80mph like a champ. Won't last forever but for the price it's a good thing.

Works great despite some expected pocket penalties! Used it for a 600 mile ride. On the way we drove through a tropical depression that had just hit the coast on landfall and through the remnants of Hurricane Harvey on the way back (so very heavy rain). Everything was completely dry inside. I think this would be better used in combination with a roof basket and needed a bit of work to make it work with what I had. I added two things to make the bag more comfortable for me. I cut some 2x2's and painted (for weather protection) to make a raised base that sat on top of the roof rails. I also took a piece of Hardie Board (whatever I had on hand) and cut it to the inside diameter to add a solid flat base to put stuff on the roof. bag and keep it stable by adding extra items as you pack. It also makes it harder to snap and close securely as you have to tighten a bit to keep the bag from pulling in one direction and loosening in the other. It's not too difficult, but will add some time to the packaging. Even working on the stairs didn't help. It is best to pack it on a flat surface and then with the help of two or more people (depending on your weight) lift it into place. enough. When I checked out of the hotel, I packed my things into the jeep. Packing on the ground was better/easier, but packing in a jeep was easier for a one man army. Straps would be helpful to keep the bottom in place when packing the device. Because of its flexibility, the device can accommodate many things. I've yet to see a rigid rooftop cargo carrier capable of holding the odd shaped items I had to put in there (large strollers (and I mean large ones), large padded bags, etc.) all together. But I've found that it's better to spread the load wide than high (obviously). The descent wasn't very noisy, even at 80mph, and gas mileage was just 4mpg lower than usual on this trip. When I came back I put various items in it making it as big as possible, it reduced gas mileage by 8mpg and was very noisy on the way back. I could have been more careful when packing it on the floor so it was just better packed. I recommend. Use a basket on the roof or a plank inside to stiffen it. Strapping is a problem as it is a bag and takes more time to pack and repack. The material doesn't seem to be the kind that will last a lifetime. car, but on this trip it showed no wear.
