Good tool for beginners with some limitations

Media could not be loaded. This is the second wood burning kit I've used - I borrowed it from a friend and liked it so much I decided to buy my own. I'm generally happy with it and would recommend it to other beginners. Disadvantages: - The handle gets quite hot closer to the working end. Because of this, it's difficult to keep it as secure as one would like without interruptions. The heated metal section is quite long, about an inch longer than another wood burner I've used, so combined with a hot grip, I'm done. before using a much longer recording than I would like. (Think about how you hold a pencil: it's easier to control if you hold it close to the tip, rather than five inches from the tip.) Replacing the tip with the one that came on when it arrived, wasn't particularly intuitive or explained. in the attached information sheet (his instructions were for a completely different model, unrelated to this one). After figuring it out, I made a short video (attached to this review). About half of the items in this 96-piece set are pretty much useless, and it looks like they were only added to increase the quantity. For example, there's no reason most pyrographers would need a set of crayons; A regular pencil works well. The stencils provided are cheap plastic, not heat resistant at all, so their usefulness is limited, and in most cases you can get better results by transferring the design with laser transfer or good old pencil rubbing. They contained more wooden blanks. They're easy enough to buy separately (and I have them), but they'll be a lot more useful than many of the "add-ons" that come with the kit. Pros: - It gets nice and hot. I never felt like waiting for the instrument to reach a sufficient temperature; Once warm it gets hot enough to do what I wanted. - There are many different tips. Of the other set, I only liked one that was missing in this one (a wide flat disc for easy laser transfer). I suspect most beginners overestimate the amount of advice they need; As with most similar crafts, you'll usually find a few that you use 90% of the time. It's still nice to have a range of options. - The temperature control remains. I've read reviews of other instruments complaining that the dial changes frequently if the hand accidentally touches the case while the instrument is in use. It's easy to replace, but strong enough not to slip. The cord is intelligently designed with the on/off switch closer to the end of the plug than the end of the tool. On another wood burner I used, the poorly placed switch added significant bulk and weight just inches from the end of the tool and continued to threaten to pull it off the table I was working on, also requiring some effort. to control it while using the tool. This bad experience made me appreciate this tool's more streamlined approach. You will find that most disadvantages are "preferences" and most advantages are "prerequisites". Bottom line, this set is a reasonable value. It's definitely not a professional tool, but for those of us who are just starting out, it's a good way to try out this art form without a huge investment.

Pros
