I've been using the X10 for about 20 years. My original transceiver (TM751) recently died. The X10 PRO PAT03 was meant to be an upgrade of my original that has lasted almost two decades. It should only respond to my front door motion sensor (MS14A) turning on the front door lights (address A1), wireless bedside remote control (HR12A) and three cars in which I have programmed the HomeLink button to turn off the front lights (also A1). The .X10 PRO PAT03 will not accept any of these items unless they are within 6 inches of the antenna. It is useless for any of the applications. The built-in motion sensor definitely can't reach the HomeLink signal, and neither can any of my cars. The remote sometimes works if I bring it directly to the antenna. This defeats the purpose of the remote control. I'm back waiting for a direct replacement. Let's hope it was just a bad block.
