These metal straws work great. My family uses straws regularly, so it's nice to be able to go without plastic straws. We tend to use curved a lot more than straight. We just toss them in the dishwasher basket after each use. Zero problems with them. Note that they're fairly small in diameter (similar to a regular plastic restaurant size, not the larger McD diameter) so they're not good for thick drinks like smoothies. We have a couple of similarly curved metal straws but slightly larger in diameter that work better for that.
