Colander and Food Strainer Design Overview

I have owned this food processor for three (3) years and use it regularly, especially during the summer season. In particular, I bought it to process tomatoes for canning. I find that the most basic updates are missing in the design: my main complaint is the plastic auger that pushes the fruit through a stainless steel strainer. The auger does not fit completely within the crankcase, but its clearance is 1 1/2 inches and is prevented by a spring mounted on a horizontal shaft. The fruits get stuck there and cannot move forward through the sieve. left unfinished and makes a mess when disassembling. My second complaint is the poor gasket design, which is designed to keep the juice from escaping the case and spilling out. I use the bowl or towel at the bottom so I don't make a big, sticky one. The third complaint is the sieve: It clogs up too quickly and has to be cleaned after a short period of use. The augur doesn't seem to be able to properly clean the inside of the sieve, mis-defining the design tolerance between the augur and the screen, the augur remains filled with fruit, although none of them seem to continue their movement in order to be ejected will. this causes further chaos when clearing away. Complaint 4: The outer surface of the strainer needs to be constantly cleaned of processed fruit because it does not fall off easily after straining. It doesn't appear to be pushed all the way through the sieve by the augur, referring to my comment on the tolerances between the augur and the sieve. Another mess to contend with. Complaint 5: The way the screen has to be forcibly attached and secured to the body is very difficult at best. Removing it after the job is done is just as difficult and dismal, given my comment earlier on the fruit not coming out by the time the job was done. Fruit residue in the auger makes it REALLY difficult to remove from inside the strainer and can damage parts. Finally, the spout that goes in and out of the waste strainer is clear plastic that has cracked after a month of heavy use. . You can use better quality plastic. I will continue to use it this summer but I will not recommend it. This will be the last season I use this processor and then I will find a better device.
