I use a candle making kit to recycle some big old candles that burned in the middle and were unusable. I didn't use the candle wax that came with it. The pot works very well as a steamer in the large pot of water I used. The size was perfect. I didn't really need a thermometer when I started melting the wax. I bought a packet of wicks separately from this set as I ended up with about 50 candles left in containers which were mostly a bunch of old candles that I couldn't use anymore. I highly recommend placing the paper on the counter in a safe place away from an oven or stovetop, and placing it on the floor as well, as removing candle wax when it's plating or dripping is a pain in the ass.
