Review on ⚡️ Enhanced ACDelco Gold 337-1027 Starter for Improved Performance by Terry Reed

Good starter but not as quiet as the original that came with the Suburban

I have a 2001 Suburban 5.3L V8. The original starter lasted almost 20 years. Recently, turning the engine has become slower and more difficult. First you think of the battery, alternator or cable, but they all pass the test. I'm used to the starter just disengaging and you either hear a click from the starter solenoid or no click, but you do hear the starter winding noise. In my case it was just a start. Thanks to a one-day delivery from Revain, the starter arrived just in time. When I tried to pull the Suburban out of the garage to replace the starter, the original starter didn't crank the engine until the third try. After replacing the starter with this ACDelco part it now starts without delay. The only thing about this new starter is that it makes this weird squeak at the end of the engine start when you let go of the key. I hope that just the starter spins around and the noise eventually goes away. Here are some tips for replacing this starter motor. Before starting, disconnect the black negative cable from the battery to avoid a short circuit when working with the starter. Remove the passenger wheel to make room to work under the vehicle. You will need a 10mm or short socket for the plastic cover between the gearbox and the starter, 8mm, 13mm and 14mm sockets for removing the starter cables and screws, a flat head screwdriver for removing the oil level wire from the oil pan what you can do now. At this point I removed the heat shield from the solenoid to give myself a little more wiggle room. Disconnect the thick main battery cable from the back of the starter to make the starter easier to maneuver. This thick wire is attached to a larger stud on the back of the starter. Unscrew the starter and maneuver around the nose from the bottom first, be patient it will come out. Once you figure it out, you can remove the smaller jumper cable. Reinstall in reverse order except install heat shield first before reinstalling starter. The hardest part of this procedure is getting the starter out of the tight space. 14mm on this new ACDelco starter. I used an 8" extension on my 13mm end to reach this nut further under the Suburban. It's too hard to get to that wheel arch nut with every tool I had. Much luck!
