Better than the original. Easy to program.

One of the original Genie remotes that we received when we bought our house no longer works. Tried a new battery but still doesn't work. When trying to find a replacement, I found that our remote model was discontinued. There were several in random online stores and auctions, but expensive. After some research I found out that this model was a replacement and will work with our garage door opener. I decided to buy two as I didn't have one in my car before. The manual that came with it was pretty much useless to me. There was a general idea of how to program but no details on a specific opener model. I found a video online that explains the process very simply. The hardest part was just finding the learn code button on my opener. One day I found it easy. Press the learning code button once and it will flash. Press the remote control button once to discover it. The Learn Code button lights up. To program, press the remote control button again. The learn button goes out. Did. I was concerned about the distance they would work. I checked them from the other end of my driveway, that's about 50 feet. Both worked great at the push of a button. I also like the feel of the button on them better than my originals. They had soft buttons and sometimes it was hard to tell if the button was actually pressed or if the rubber was just crumpled. They are made of hard plastic and are very easy to squeeze. They are also smaller and lighter. Like the permanent clip on the back to attach it to the visor. The older model had a case where the remote would snap and constantly fall out of the case. There was a clip on the case so the case stayed on the visor but the remote fell out. We ended up gluing ours to the shell to keep them from falling out. There is none of that now. Holds perfectly on the visor. Very happy with this purchase.
