Review on Efficient Oil Filtration with Fram Extra Guard PH3675 - 10,000 Mile Change Interval by Jason Holt

Anti-drainage valve, no hydraulic pusher noise.

Installed on a 2002 Tahoe. If you're looking for oil filters for a Chevy Tahoe, I recommend one with an anti-drain check valve. If you park your car during the day and start the engine the next morning, you have the problem of not having an anti-drain check valve. it is very possible that you initially have an engine noise that comes from the hydraulic valve lifters not being filled with oil. This is an annoying noise that quickly disappears. But a filter with an anti-drain check valve avoids this situation. From the Fram website http://www.fram.com/support/faqs.aspx Anti-drainback check valve. Some oil filter brackets can allow oil from the filter to flow through the oil pump when the engine is off. At the next engine start, the oil must fill the filter before full oil pressure reaches the engine. A non-return valve, included with the filter if required, prevents oil from flowing out of the filter. This check valve is actually a rubber flap that covers the inside of the filter inlets. When the oil pump starts pumping oil, the pressure releases the flapper. The purpose of this valve is to keep the oil filter full at all times so that oil is supplied to the engine almost instantaneously when the engine is started.”
