Great Fram Synthetic Oil Filter

If you use full synthetic oil this is the filter you need. This is a longer version of the XG3506. It has a two-ply synthetic wire base and silicone anti-drain check valve. I've been using these Fram Ultra filters since they were made a few years ago and these filters are excellent quality for the price.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • New Competitors Arrived

Excellent value $$

Hard to find at your local auto parts store. This is a slightly longer version of the ones on the machine (equivalent) on the Frams site, so why not add a filter with a little more filters. It doesn't filter finer particles or better but will take longer to 'clog' than a smaller filter so for the same price why not. No complaints and they work great.

Pros
  • Excellent fit for me
Cons
  • Available in white only

Excellent filter, mileage 10,000 km!

I use this filter once a year on my 2001 Suburban 5.3 LS1 with over 300,000 miles. My work truck, lots of stops and traffic during the HOT Texas heat! I drive to a strict fleet maintenance schedule. I do OCI at 3000-4000 miles so about 3-4 oil changes a year with Mobil 1 or Shell Rotella Gas Truck ALL Synthetic. The great thing about these filters is that you can drain the new oil and refill with new oil with confidence!

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Negative impression

Fits 2500 4x4 Silverado 6.7 year 2000

Mileage not known yet, only put on a month ago or easy to take off, I guess easy to take off with a filter wrench. This filter leaked around the gasket for several days after I put it there. I screwed it in by hand and lubricated the stuffing box as it should. Maybe over tightened but the leak has stopped and is not dripping. This leak I saw was very slow, a tiny spot the size of a quarter of an hour overnight, possibly oil on the frame around the filter when I installed it. The truck has good…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Fairly ok

Anti-drainage valve, no hydraulic pusher noise.

Installed on a 2002 Tahoe. If you're looking for oil filters for a Chevy Tahoe, I recommend one with an anti-drain check valve. If you park your car during the day and start the engine the next morning, you have the problem of not having an anti-drain check valve. it is very possible that you initially have an engine noise that comes from the hydraulic valve lifters not being filled with oil. This is an annoying noise that quickly disappears. But a filter with an anti-drain check valve avoids…

  • One year trial

  • Mostly fine, but...
