Review on 🌸 Lenox Butterfly Meadow Tea Kettle: Vibrant Multi-Colored Design in 3.00 LB Size by Susan Castle

Cute and well made but design flaws

Nice kettle, durable and well made. However, some serious design flaws made me look for another, more practical kettle. 1-The handle doesn't tilt to the side, so you can't pour water into the kettle at an angle of about 60 degrees from the side. This means you can't pour a measured amount by simply tilting the mug up at a 90 degree angle to empty it. Not critical, but that's why older kettles have a folding handle so you can tip it to the side and freely pour into the kettle at any angle. 2. The next design flaw is that the plastic handle gets very hot and you need an oven mitt to hold it. There's no point in sticking ugly, toxic, polluting plastic onto a pen if it's still too hot to touch. I prefer vintage handles made of hardened wood or porcelain. 3-The lid has no seal or locking mechanism whatsoever, so if you tilt the kettle more than 40 degrees to pour, it literally falls off instantly. This resulted in me scalding the back of my hand with steam even with an oven mitt. So in the first week with this kettle I burned my hand on an unhardened plastic handle, I couldn't pour a certain amount of water into the kettle without gymnastics and then I scalded the back of my hand with hot steam from the lid when trying to use the kettle in a Drain angle of 90 degrees, dropped. Needless to say, although this teapot is so beautiful and well made, I need a teapot that can actually function as a teapot.
