Update! I was very fortunate to have a customer service representative contact me after my initial review and although I broke this item trying to remove it to make adjustments, this company stands behind their products! She sent me more than just a gas shock absorber without hesitation. I broke and a whole new complete set, wow! I was able to replace my broken shock in about 5 minutes and now the assist works great. Not only is it so rare that a company stands behind a product, but even rarer that someone will make an effort to contact you based on an initially positive review of your product (see below) to replace what I broke during installation have made. I can tell you that I will send people who own trucks to them. I don't think I've had such a positive experience with any other Amazon seller. Buy with confidence guys! I really like the product but I had to detach the gas strut from the underside of the tailgate. to adjust the cable and I suspect one of the clips broke trying to remove it and now the gas strut cannot be attached. to the back door. Hopefully they sell a replacement gas shock so I don't have to buy the whole kit to get one.
