This thing let me down easily. It's pretty easy to install, but the installation instructions weren't accurate. I read that you only need 2 additional tools for installation, a 10mm wrench and a 13mm wrench. Well, at the very least, you'll need a Phillips screwdriver, pliers, and scissors. Item arrived safe and sound with all parts. A plus for this setup, as with other manufacturers, would be a small amount of thread-locking solution for the top and bottom bolts with a flared flange assembly threaded for a screw-in ball. This is after installing the hex bolt and flange nut. from the factory is used for the initial opening and expansion of the part that enters the metal opening of the tailgate. This shock absorber is amazing. The best at all. I can't believe I didn't do this many years ago. No more heavy tailgate. Not knowing what I was doing and trying to follow the instructions as well as the YouTube videos, it took about an hour. Now that I've done it, it's that easy and I can redo it in about 20 minutes or less. The instructions say to remove the rubber bumper but that's not on the video. Worked for my 2017 Ram 1500, installed the damper fairly easily, if you are installing it on a ram truck and getting confused look on youtube and there is a good video i used installed. The allen wrench didn't help me, but it might be an allen wrench for other years and I had one so it wasn't a big deal. The damper comes off slowly, but not too slowly if you're waiting for eternity. At first glance, everything looked pretty simple. That doesn't mean it was terribly difficult, just be patient with the install. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE BEGINNING. It will tell you which tools you need and which aren't included, as well as warnings and tips. It was really nice to bring some tools, but if you have a T45 and a 3/8" ratchet it becomes a lot easier.
