Be sure to use a pole to hold the trunk open during installation and fill one side at a time. The thin end of a rack is facing down.2. Nothing special had to be done with the convertible. The original spacers can be removed WITHOUT opening/closing the flip cover to remove the bottom bracket. Simply use a small screwdriver to completely loosen one end of the existing retaining clip from the bottom ball latch. You can then remove the lower end of the original frame. Use a small piece of wood as a fulcrum for a large screwdriver and you'll easily loosen the bottom end.3. The top of the existing support comes off easily once you loosen one end of its bracket.4. First, slide the bottom pivot of the new strut into place. You may need to raise your torso slightly to align the top of the frame.
