Review on 🔌 Effortless Vehicle Wiring with Hopkins 42475 Plug-In Simple Kit by Malik Berry

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Just plug and play

Installed on a 2007 Jeep Liberty. This worked as expected. The 2007 Jeep Liberty wiring harness to which it must be connected is located in the rear of the passenger side cargo area under the plastic quarter panel. You had to remove the tailgate floor plastic trim and then just remove the side plastic trim (you simply pull on the trim starting from where you remove the tailgate floor plastic strip). It will be a bit difficult without removing the entire panel, but it can be done. The factory car wires are a bit short which causes bottlenecks and one of the factory plastic clips has a red latch and you have to use a pan head screw on the back to unscrew it. I broke mine but it's okay, I just put tape on the factory connector and on the new one to keep them in place. The only thing I had to use with a power tool was to drill a self-tapping screw into the car's metal next to the connector. Installation took 15-20 minutes, and most of the time was spent unplugging the factory plug (the one with the red plastic lock). It was a fairly simple setup. A NOTICE. There is a rubber grommet on the floor under the rear light, which can be used to remove the trailer plug from the vehicle. I just make a small cut in the rubber bushing and pass the connector through the slot. When you pull out the spout, there is a silver dollar-sized hole in the bottom behind the plastic panel that allows water to seep in.

Pros
  • Great all-round performance
Cons
  • Out of style
