Review on Park Tool BBT 18 Bottom Bracket by James Holker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's the right tool for the job - here's why:

I needed to remove the ISIS bottom bracket for a Schwinn Spin bike. First I tried two other BB tools - one from Lezyne, the other from Icetoolz. Both were very well made, but both didn't fit into the notches on the spin bike's snap ring. So I had to send each one back and wait another two or three days for a replacement to come. All to save a few bucks (or get a little more functionality) over the Park Tool. It is well made and serves its purpose. Note, however, that you will need either a 36mm socket or a very large crescent wrench to do this. Oh, and that would be an OCTAGON socket - 12 points would work, and a HEXAGON WILL NOT WORK. I hope this saves someone heartache or money. or both. Yes. it cost me a few extra days (and more money). It would be great if it had a 1/2" or 3/4" socket on the end, as well as a hex or 12 socket recess, but as this is the only tool I've found that has the Job done, I won't dock a star to it.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Volume
