The instructions appear to be written by someone who is lacking skills in the English language. It's actually pretty comical how they used words that have no meaning whatsoever for the topics at hand. If you've installed ceiling fans before you'll likely be able to figure this out but the video on the Revain page (https://www.amazon.com/vdp/ce412533caad479eba3920a06579bbea?ref=dp_vse_rvc_0) for the 42" version of this fan made the difference between me managing to put it together and just returning it. I did have to take a ride to my local home improvement store to buy screws to attach the light as the screws that were included were about 1/2" too long. Also, the standard Edison style bulbs we purchased were too long to fit inside the cage on the 36" version of this fan. I'm not sure if the 42" offers more room here but a standard bulb around 4" is all we could stuff in there. At the end of the day this is a nice fan/light but if I had purchased it at my local big box store I would have made a scene that they wouldn't have appreciated. That might explain why fans like this are only available online. :)
