I was running out of expansion slots on my laptop (already filled with m2 and 2.5 SSDs) and needed an external storage device. I didn't want to invest too much in external drives so I decided to use the original 2.5" hard drive I had. Works perfectly. I did a test with a blank hard drive and it was over 120MB but I forgot to take a screenshot. The one I attached is about 70% full. Here the external drive is the limiting factor. I don't have a spare SSD to really test the top speed, but this is working great for my hard drive at the moment. I connected it 100% to my laptop and had no problems transferring data or playing media. The device itself is pretty slick and unlike my other external adapter, this one holds the drive very firmly and tightly. Love it.
