Surprised by the quality of Canson

This sketchbook far exceeded my expectations. I haven't reviewed Canson products for a while after trying their watercolor paper and realizing it's very poor quality. I got one of these as a gift a few years ago and now I've completed 3 from start to finish. I assume that QC is of great importance on different lines. I used to use ring-bound sketchbooks for their flexibility and easy page removal. This hardcover book doesn't have those advantages, but it makes up for them in one big way: transferring graphite. More precisely, his absence. As soon as you close the ring sketchbook and put it in your pocket or even in your hand, shifting the loosely bound paper will erase the pencil marks on the adjacent page. This can really ruin drawings over time. With this book, its solid construction means you won't have that problem. The most important things I look for in a sketchbook is good erasability and a decent paper weight for drawing or easy washing. This sketch paper is great for the first; You can erase a dozen times with a good resin eraser and unless you have creased the paper it will erase with little wear each time. The paper accepts most inks as long as you don't fill half the page at a time and in most cases it doesn't bleed (I use Sumi and W&N drawing inks). The paper warps quickly when washed properly, but then again, it shouldn't be washed at all. Overall, this sketchbook has a solid construction and a very comfortable paper. It's not ideal if you need something to fold or remove sheets of paper quickly and easily, but for what it is, a hardcover sketchbook is a really good choice.
