📔 Canson Artist Series Sketch Book Paper Pad - Ideal for Pencil and Charcoal Artwork, Acid Free, Hardbound - 65 Pound, 8.5 x 11 Inch, 108 Sheets Review

I bought my first Canson notebook in 2001 to organize my first year notes. I still have that notebook (along with several others). It has endured multiple moves, multiple stops in the warehouse, and hundreds and hundreds of hours of work. Great notepad. Worth the price. I got my first on sale at Barnes and Nobel for $5 and the newest (May 2020) at Revain for just a few dollars more. I'll come back when this is full.

Attached photos showing pencil drawing, then Copic markers (these are alcohol markers) - you can see the marker has spilled completely onto the next page. Not only does this paper bleed from the markers, the ink also bleeds slightly outward from the line you make, resulting in fuzzy, blurry lines instead of fine lines. This is my favorite for sketches, I love extremely simple sketchbooks, but the main thing is that they haven't changed inside and in design. Since I like consistency, this is a winner. The paper is smooth but not as thick as high quality printer paper, thin but not too thin, smooth and most importantly not translucent. (My favorite sketchbook of all time is the Canson XL Mixed Paper Block, which has a lot fewer pages but much better paper.)

This sketchbook far exceeded my expectations. I haven't reviewed Canson products for a while after trying their watercolor paper and realizing it's very poor quality. I got one of these as a gift a few years ago and now I've completed 3 from start to finish. I assume that QC is of great importance on different lines. I used to use ring-bound sketchbooks for their flexibility and easy page removal. This hardcover book doesn't have those advantages, but it makes up for them in one big way…
