Smart key is amazing. Yes, changing keys to locks is not difficult, but it does take money and time. With Kwikset Smartkey it takes about 5 seconds. Important.1. Don't lose the flat wire you receive as you will need it for key renewal.2. Kwikset claims to only work with their keys. Not sure but my other locks were Kwikset. I'm not sure if this will be a problem.3. When retyping, follow the prompts exactly or you'll have to go through the more complicated method of retyping partial entries. The instructions are not difficult to follow, just read twice the key once.4. To change the key, you need to insert and half-turn the original key, so don't worry about someone with a flat cable changing the key to your house while you're away. You don't need to change the key as the lock comes with keys.
