This type of heat source seems more recommended for chicks than a lightbulb. I have ordered both. I tried these first. It worked so well that I never tried the red lightbulb. I hung the lamp on the top of the incubator which is 4 feet by 3 feet and 2 feet high. 22 babies were quite happy to sleep under it. As they got older I increased the lamp position to keep them from overheating. Definitely recommend.
