A secure lock that doesn't always fit or is easy to install

It's nice to have a lockable tailgate with a new folding trunk that doesn't lock. Installation was difficult, even with workarounds. It still looks misaligned and takes a good swipe to snap into place as it sticks and doesn't pull back or snap into place on its own. Dodge RAM 1500. After a year later, it's rusty but still works well, the latch still won't close without hitting the handle, causing the tailgate to fall off several times while driving.
