Review on Pyle Distance Waterproof Adjustable PLCM4550 by Will Jenkins

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Absolutely normal. Is working. Some complaints. Although it was cheap.

This camera and display work quite well. I've been shooting stars most of the time due to screen flickering or "rolling". The brightness setting has many different steps, but I find I need to tweak it a bit for day and night. The camera is large and covers the top of my license plate. Unless you put it below and close your license tabs and expiration date, I doubt this will cause any legal problems. There was barely enough wire to run it from my plate to the underside of the dashboard of a four-cab pickup truck. (fuh) The mirror is beautiful, like the modern mirror on my old truck. Everyone knows I have a backup camera because it's so big on the plate. This camera replaces an entire mirror instead of a kit that fits over an existing mirror. I liked it very much. It was very easy to install. Those going over the existing mirror sounded like they would move and be difficult to adjust. Just remove a screw from the existing mirror and in my case replace it with the same windshield mount. (small piece of metal glued to the inside of the windshield) I inserted the wire right into the headliner and passed it over and down to meet the camera wire. I used the energy that was on the radio. (red wire that has 12 volts when car is on or in assist mode) The screen seems small compared to my everyday giant screen driver. Although it's useful. It was cheap enough. It has an auto dimming feature that I don't know how to turn off. I have tinted windows so it's hard to see at night. I sealed the sensor with black tape. I also covered the ultra-bright green LED with black tape so you know it's connected to a power source. I do not get it. If the screen turns on when I flip it over, I know it's working. I don't want that bright light turning on as it makes it inconvenient to use the mirror at night. I used wire taps to hook the white backup lights onto the taillights. (That way it knows what to include) Took over an hour to install. Take some wire taps and some zip ties. (At least for under truck installation) My fuse blew so I bought a built in spare fuse. Should be 2.5A. I bought one with a 5 amp fuse. I need a replacement fuse for it or it might not save the camera or screen. Overall I think it's pretty good for the price. There are more expensive options. Another composite (a yellow) entrance is available. I don't know how you would switch to it. I didn't try. The flickering could be my car or the reverse lights. (I read about the lightbulb causing the problem). However, this is not my generator. I put the car in reverse and shut off the engine and it still flickers. It doesn't blink all the time. I will try to change the rear bulbs. (sounds like a long take but I've read about it from several people on online forums)

Pros
  • BUILT-IN MIRROR PLATE: This rear view camera monitor can be easily installed and replace your existing rear view mirror. On the other hand, because of the thin crossbar body
Cons
  • , the car rear view camera can be installed on the license plate, boring package
