Requires frequent monitoring of children, find a more reliable option

I bought this unit because of the cost, the ability to manually limit the current and the screen to show current and temperature readings. The dimensions of the device and case were ideal for long-term storage in the trunk (slightly smaller and thicker than a laptop bag). Build quality was solid, but the label on the cable specifically said not to expose it to moisture (future chargers will provide weatherproof ratings). It took some effort to connect to my machine the first time, but then everything went smoothly. No part of the device felt unusually warm, and I didn't smell any burning or ozone. The wires were a lot thinner than my factory charger, but still thicker than a heavy-duty extension cord, so they were fine for the 20A rating limit. This is in my trunk for long trips when away from public chargers for an extended period of time. Unfortunately, every few hours the device would stop charging my car and throw the above error indicating "over voltage" even though it calculated it was more than double the voltage it was getting from the wall received (tested with my multimeter which I brought with me because I half expected something like this to happen). Also, I never got a 'charging stopped' message from my device because power was still available and connected. The device just told the device to stop drawing current. I was able to spend the weekend with it and left with a full load, but I can't put up with that lack of reliability long-term for something as important as transportation. It's coming back and I will no longer consider this manufacturer.
