It is not recommended to purchase these speakers for a new boat installation. The notch and screw pattern is larger than most traditional 6.5 speakers. Once you have reinstalled your speakers you will be quite limited by these speakers due to their size. There are other speakers with the same size and screw pattern, but they are expensive. These speakers are better suited as speaker replacements. They sound good and last a while. I usually use them for about four or five years before they go bad.
