I didn't need to use Alexa or any other voice integration, I didn't want to control smart devices. I bought this to control many of the old devices I own (bulbs, lights, stereo, tv, radio etc) via IR. Disadvantages of this product: - Every time you use it randomly, you will get the "device is disabled" error. And that although the device is next to a WLAN router. Perhaps that's because it only supports the 2.4GHz band, which is notoriously fraught with interference. Having 5 GHz can help; Moes: It's not 2009 anymore - the application to control it (Tuya Smart Living) contains about 1,054,470 different models of Chinese fans and air conditioners, but very few other electronics. My Sony receiver cannot be controlled - the application has no definitions for radios, tuners, receivers, amplifiers, VCRs and other AV devices. - If you have a remote control, you can use DIY mode to teach the app a specific command. Here lies the other major design flaw. Button definitions cannot have colors or graphics. Once a button has been added, it cannot be moved onto the screen. There's no way to tell if the button you tried to press actually triggered IR, there's no audible, visual, or tactile feedback.
