Like most we thought you had to cover the whole unit but no just cover the top to keep fall/winter debri out you don't need the side covered, remember these are supposed to be outside

- Prolong A/C life - preventing leaf, rust, debris, minimize electrical failures
Cons
- The cover may not be effective at preventing damage from animals or pests
