I've moved to my mountain cabin full time due to the pandemic. I've never had AC in 30 years because I was only here a week and I could handle it. But now I need it! Especially with the heatwaves scorching New England. The house retains the heat (winter plus) so that at night, even if it's cool outside, the temperature inside is easily 10 degrees higher, even with all the windows open. There's no way to use window units, so I bought two GE portable air conditioners - one large and one small. I have ordered both sizes of these portable air conditioner sliding door vent kits and couldn't be happier. The first - the 5 inch kit - was my learning curve. However perfect! The second set - 5.9 inches so to speak - was in the same breath. They match my AC hoses and my sliding glass doors perfectly. Taking the advice of other reviewers here, I used my own weatherseal - for myself I chose FrostKing EPDM Adhesive D-Profile weatherseal - 5/16" wide, 1/4" thick and 17 feet long. Two such packages were enough for both sets. To be safe I cut out 1 x 2 inch and tossed in the joint - perfect. Seriously, these kits work, they look good, fit snugly and are easy to install. I like her. I have an improvement. planned - because since the vents open onto my deck, I'm going to put a dehumidifier vent grille on the hose opening - to keep critters out of it.
