Review on πŸ“Ά NETGEAR N300 Wi-Fi to Ethernet Adapter by Matt Barsa

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works well with some limitations

Easy setup for this wireless ethernet bridge. Signal strength/reception appears to be acceptable. Only used for 2 weeks so I can't comment on durability. The directions are cryptic. I couldn't and didn't want to use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). Therefore I cannot comment on this aspect. If you are not using WPS, the first time you connect the Netgear Bridge device to your computer, you must point your browser to the Netgear Bridge server address for additional settings. This redirect happened automatically with Firefox, but not with other browsers. After that and after finding and logging into the appropriate wireless network, the remaining steps were easy. I ran into an issue where the client device, in my case a Samsung HDTV, disconnected and the Netgear Bridge lost connection. WiFi connection. After restarting the TV, the Netgear bridge only connects with a delay, if at all. This problem could be solved by cycling the Netgear bridge, but this solution was inconvenient. Adding an Ethernet switch (not a router) between the Netgear bridge and the HDTV client seems to solve the problem. And at least for the time being, a transparently good wireless network connection has been achieved, which works reliably over several days with TV-on cycles.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Too long to wait
