Review on πŸ” Power Tailgate Lock for Chevy/GMC (New Body) - Pop & Lock PL8120Q by Mark Callaham

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works as it should, instructions are missing important details

Installation went relatively smoothly although I have extensive experience with cars so this may be more of an issue for others. I have two specific setup cons and one annoyance. Overall I think this product will work properly and help deter tailgate theft and it's worth $100. 1) The mounting screw holes were too small. I spent a good 5 minutes trying to figure out why I couldn't push the bolts through and realized they were too small. It's ok, measure the screws and drill bigger holes. I expected that for $100 I wouldn't have to modify the product to make it fit. Especially since it depends on the car and according to their website and Amazon was correct. (2008 Silverado 2500 Double Cab Regular Bed) 2) The instructions don't tell you which wires go to which. They just say "if the lock function unlocks the tailgate then swap the wires on the tailgate". Or just tell us which cable is correct? Again, for $100 I expect they even say to check with a test lamp? This is totally unnecessary, they can easily tell you which wires to connect to. FYI, the gray connector outside the fuse box is the wire harness that you connect, specifically the gray and brown wires in that wire harness as correctly indicated in the instructions. Tailgate Wiring Harness Green wire connects to truck gray wire, Tailgate Wiring Harness blue wire connects to truck brown wire. Was it really too difficult to specify in the instructions? Irritation) Something on the latch rattles when the tailgate does not latch and close. I believe there is something on or near the connecting rod between the actuator and the plate that is preventing the tailgate handle from opening. If I get angry enough, I'll probably isolate it by using shrink wrap or rubber banding over the culprit. now suggest my various security measures) and a picture of the RIGHT wires to connect.
