
The thread guide does not "snap" in place as the individual instructions claim, but keeps slipping inward until it falls off, causing the thread to get caught in the gears. Even if I keep the thread guide in place, this winder just doesn't seem capable of holding the entire skein of yarn like the list suggests. I've had this item for two hours and have already had to cut out the gears and now I have a bunch of yarn to wind up and a small ball of yarn, which isn't even enough to make part of a hat. Extremely disappointed, not sure if a swap would solve the thread guide issue, and wish so I would jump to a more expensive thread winder. I think it's true that you get what you pay for.
