Review on Gizmo Dorks Filament Printers Transparent by Dan Phillips

If you DO NOT NEED it, choose PLA

This is a good ABS when it comes to ABS. Unless you have a specific reason to print from ABS; However, you should avoid it. The difference in ABS and PLA printing is like driving a car with a joystick versus an automatic transmission. He's picky and this ABS is no exception. On a heated bed (110°C), with a head temperature of 238°C, with a raft over hairspray-soaked Kapton tape, I still had enough creases to ruin the print. Suspension from ABS, the same. Fast print speed (95mm/s), slow print speed (30mm/s), fan on, fan off, fan running at half speed, fan running at full speed - warp, warp, warp, more or less. That's not a hit to this ABS, that's a hit to the entire ABS. This filament is no exception and does not protect you from the undesirable properties of ABS plastic. Color wise it's pure white, but not the bright, retina-burning titanium dioxide white we're all used to. The smell is not as bad as other ABS filaments. FOLLOW UP: I tried this thread again and I still don't like it. I'm starting to wonder if there is contamination in the filament itself - it's the ONLY filament I have that seems to be partially clogging my extruder, resulting in under-extrusion. Just to be sure, I took about 12 cold hits before using it. This filament adheres fairly well to the Buildtak BuildTak 3D Printing Build Surface, 8" x 8" Square, Black (Pack of 3), with no additives, but I haven't tried flatbed printing yet. Also, the color of this thread is better called the white color of the bone. FYI, on Gizmo Dorks' own ABS Filament product page (can't post a link): ABS Filament Specs** Net Weight: 1kg or 2.2lbs Diameter: +/- 0.05mm Roundness: +/- 0.07mm Print Temp: 220-240°C Heated Bed Temp: 110°C From the ABS Printing Blog by Gizmo Dorks: SPECIFICATIONS: ABS Filament Size: 1.75mm or 3mm Glass Transition Temperature: 105°C (221°F) Extrusion Temperature of the Printers: 220°C to 240°C (428°-464°F) Table heated Temperature: 110°C (230°F) This data is for general information only as the Revain list is a bit short I want to like this thread , I really do. I think I was spoiled for Hatchbox HATCHBOX 1.75mm White ABS 3D Printer Filament - 1kg (2.2lb) Spool - Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.05mm. I plan to fiddle with the pressure settings all the time as ABS can be finicky and the pressure response can change drastically with just a 5 degree temperature change, but I'm not optimistic.

Pros
  • Filament diameter: +/- 0.05mm
Cons
  • weak
