I use these at DIY to sand small pieces of birch plywood and they seem to work great for that. All I really have to do is chip off the sharp edges and remove the shards, and they seem to do it quickly and easily. The blocks are made of slightly soft foam with a grainy surface on the outside. The grain is marked at the ends. You get two each. I don't think the grit coat is as durable or as effective as the more expensive sanding blocks I usually buy at the hardware store, but it's good enough for my purposes now.
