I was dying to spice up my cooking games with cookware of known quality and something better than Le Creuset. I had a kettle but it was a cheaper version with a smaller capacity and didn't look as pretty. When I first received it I saw that it had Le Creuset stickers on it which I think should be removed before first use. There was also a sticker on the underside of the lid that had to be removed. I will say that the sticker on the outside was easily removed leaving virtually no residue. The one on the inside of the lid was a mess. I had to scrub and soak the lid to remove any sticky residue. I wanted to use alcohol to remove but wasn't sure if I should. After reading the care instructions and the first boil/wash, the kettle was ready to use. I like that the lid closes tightly, but not so much that it doesn't come off. The appearance is as bright and beautiful as the pictures. I had imagined the kettle to be a bit bigger, but that's ok. I guess another issue I wasn't expecting was the amount of water you pour into the kettle. I'm not unhappy with the volume, but I wish there was a better indicator of the maximum volume you should be putting in the kettle, like a physical mark or something, not just the holes where water/steam comes out of the spout comes. Not a big deal, but you almost need a flashlight to see the water depth versus the holes in the spout if you place the kettle on a flat surface. Cooking time is average, pipe is good but not great. It starts out very soft but never reaches a high note. I believe this is because the lid has an indentation to allow steam to escape from the lid and if you are not careful how you put the lid on you could be venting steam the wrong way. It would be nice to have some sort of mark on the outside of the lid but I understand you might want the lid and kettle to be the same colour, but I'm sure a small mark can be put so you always know where the kettle is. Steam escapes from under the lid. To be honest I love the kettle, just thought for what you pay I'm getting the best of the best for what it's all about, but some performance flaws prevent it from taking the top spot.
