Although there is a paper guide, it's not deep enough to hold the paper, so you'll have to play with the paper to line up the top and bottom so you can punch through evenly. The paper then gets caught under the hinge. It's just useless. I have an old one but one of the plastic tabs holding it in the binder is broken but at least the paper fits snugly against the paper alignment area and still punches holes easily. I think I'll just stick with the broken one.
