Review on Dorman 673 439 Integrated Catalytic Converter by Moe Gilbert

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So far so good.: Replacement parts

I ordered this bad boy on Wednesday and received it next Monday (4 days earlier than the control estimate). Replaced it myself, took four hours. The old ex-husband and the cat are soldered together, so getting them out will be fun (excruciatingly painful). Part of the exhaust pipe has to be removed to get the old duo out. I would suggest putting everything together first and then installing - it's a lot easier as you don't have to make a lot of wrenches if you install the coil and then the exhaust manifold. The car revs drop much more smoothly than before. The smell is also much cleaner. I can say my engine is choking, but these cars were designed for enough back pressure. I'll report back once I've ridden a few hundred miles. So far I've taken it to the freeway and hit 80 mph. Installation time: 4 hours. To my surprise, it came with a cat collector gasket as well as a main gasket, so basically it comes with everything you need. Be sure to use anti-seize paste on the O2 sensors as well as the heat shield nuts. If you do it yourself, the price can't be better. It never hurts to have an experienced mechanic looking over your shoulder. ;)
