I bought cheap universal Chinese power adapters. They worked fine until they did. They failed because the NTC thermistor had a lower current rating than the fuse, so the NTC thermistor failed. Not a great design. In addition, the cheaper PSU did not have overcurrent protection circuitry, allowing the PSU to be safely operated beyond its ratings until it failed. I bought the Mean Well power supply at a premium price. And it was definitely worth it. NTC is the right size. And active overcurrent protection. When I connected the power supply to my circuit, it turned off because I requested more than the rated current. This allowed me to troubleshoot my system and find out where things went wrong. Significantly better than the cheaper power supply. The processing of this power supply is far above that of a conventional power supply. And to top it off, this block is smaller. I didn't even bother looking for cheap ones. I just went straight to Evil Well and I'm glad I did. For me, the extra money is well spent. I recommend Mean Well over normal power supplies.
