Second chance at monitors

UPDATE 5/25/2016: I gave this tester a second chance after the manufacturer contacted me to say they had redesigned the tester and fixed the bugs. They also added a website, tech support, and customer service departments to help those in need. I am pleasantly surprised at how much work has been done. The tester has become more responsive, easier to use and navigate. ONFIV is much easier to set up. The tester has an extensive help function which, in addition to written instructions, also provides connection and assembly diagrams, which is very helpful! Overall I'm impressed with the work Woshida put into the tester and even more impressed that they listened and read the feedback and came out with a much better product. I will continue to do business with Woshida and look forward to updates and new testers. UPDATE December 3, 2015: I was finally able to contact "Customer Service" but only after I gave my initial 1 star review. After countless emails from Woshida telling me how good their product is (cough cough) I was able to convince them that there was indeed a problem connecting the device to Axis cameras and they sent me an ONVIF -Update I applied. After the "upgrade" I no longer got the "wrong username/password error" because the tester DID NOT DETECT AXIS CAMERAS! Great solution! If any camera didn't have problems with ONVIF, it would be an Axis camera. Axis is one of the founders of ONVIF and its protocols. I'm not a newbie, I have over 30 years of experience with CCTV systems and 20 years with IP cameras, so I know what I'm doing and how to use the tester. Not everything is so bad with this tester, some features work well for what they are. What's bad is when it comes to IP cameras, unless it's a budget camera made in China. The tester just doesn't work. I tried it on Axis, Grandeye, Arecont and Pelco but ONVIF just didn't work. So for everyone else. PURCHASE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Just not worth the $600+ I paid for it. The one I bought is boxed and awaiting UPS delivery! MUCH LUCK! NO TECHNICAL SUPPORT at all, no way to contact seller/manufacturer. The tester won't connect to a camera and keeps getting an "Invalid username and/or password" error message. I can easily connect to the camera via a web browser, so I know the username and password are indeed correct. Supports only one Axis camera model, most supported cameras are not even available here in the US. ONVIF is a joke. The battery life is not as advertised. For the money I paid I expected more than this acclaimed test monitor. I will be returning this for a refund and looking for something that actually works as described.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Almost OK
