Review on 🧬 Phenylthiourea Benzoate Thiourea - Enhanced Genetics Guidelines by James Edwards

Great kit for demonstrating flavor genetics. Sometimes, due to time constraints, I only use PTC paper in class and lectures. These are the most useful strips when you have time for a little demo. But if you have time to talk a little about the scientific method, plain papers and sodium benzoate are good controls to compare with PTC and thiourea and discuss the difference between "control" and "experimental". In addition, the set is well packaged and well marked. Be careful (!), however, because the strips are visually identical (!), so once they come out of their tubes, you won't be able to tell them apart without trying. That's GOOD and not a criticism at all because you don't want the audience to have any cues other than taste, but you have to be careful how you distribute them. I either make these tubes at a time leaving the other tubes securely capped, or I put them on separate bowls where they can't accidentally mix, or I attach them to sticky notes so they can't slip. A good product. I will buy it again.
