Repeller, not Killer

Product works as expected. It's a little fiddly to plug in, but it's cheaper than a solar powered battery. I pulled the extension cord out into the yard and placed the charger in a large plastic ice bucket to protect it from the elements. I use it to keep dogs out of the garden. So far there have been a few squeaks but no permanent damage. Before trying it on dogs, my wife and I tried it on ourselves first. You must be barefoot or at most wearing socks to ensure grounding. Then touch the wire. As a precaution, I used my right leg and arm to prevent the electricity from entering my heart. The shock is short and very uncomfortable, but not what I would call painful. It definitely stopped me from touching her again. I've seen dogs cling to the wire with their long hair to no avail, so this must be face-to-face contact. If the voltage was high enough to go through their fur, it would probably kill them, so it's a good compromise. The light is so weak that it is almost impossible to read in direct sunlight. You have to seriously shade the device to see if the light is on. Plastic poles are pretty short, especially if you have to stick them in the ground. I drilled a few holes in the base and screwed it into the wooden garden border. The plastic looks brittle even in the summer, so I'll take them off for the winter so they don't break under the snow and dogs running around.
