I bought this to drill a hole in a steel sink for a dirt removal air switch. Since this is a one-time job, I didn't want to spend more than $50 on a bit from a reputable brand like Milwaukee or Irwin. My sink turned out to be a lot higher quality than I thought it would be and was closer to 1/4" stainless steel than the 1/32" steel sink I similarly drilled about 15 years ago. Perhaps the unusual thickness contributed to the drill dulling quickly, but nonetheless, it turned out to be an easy job, which I expected. Eventually I managed to drill a few seconds, then let cool, then drill, cool, repeat 1,000,000 times. But the bit quickly lost its edge no matter how careful I was not to burn it. It ended up taking almost 5 hours and wrecking the cordless drill I was also using (it was old and should have been retired). Brand.
