Good for plastic, but rather boring.

UPDATED (3 STARS) RATING: After being on plastic for a while I'm not as happy as I used to be. This bit is almost useless after a few months of infrequent use. I have only used this on HDPE and PET plastics so far so haze was not to be expected. I dropped this tip to only use for rounding/sanding edges after using the shaping tip for the first cut. ORIGINAL (5 STARS) RATING: I am very satisfied with this nozzle. I only use it on thin HDPE and PET so I can't speak to its effectiveness on metals.

Blunts quickly Good for step drills

I bought this to drill a hole in a steel sink for a dirt removal air switch. Since this is a one-time job, I didn't want to spend more than $50 on a bit from a reputable brand like Milwaukee or Irwin. My sink turned out to be a lot higher quality than I thought it would be and was closer to 1/4" stainless steel than the 1/32" steel sink I similarly drilled about 15 years ago. Perhaps the unusual thickness contributed to the drill dulling quickly, but nonetheless, it turned out to be an easy…

Good cheap drill

Good inexpensive drill. The big problem with drills, expensive or cheap, is that the 200-pound gorilla at the trigger of the drill just wants to give everything he's got. He wants to run the drill at maximum speed, use a lot of weight to drive the drill through the material, and keep it running non-stop until the job is done. You can't do it and expect it to take a while. The borer's enemy is heat. Take your time, start the drill in the lowest gear ("1" for most exercises), about half throttle,

Effortlessly cuts thin stainless steel!

This step drill arrived brand new in a sealed blister pack. I used it to cut two 3/4" holes in a thin stainless steel screw-top jar for a special project. I attached the lid to a piece of wood with Gorilla Tape so it doesn't get out of hand when I drill each hole with a standard 3/16" bit. The shank fit easily into my Ryobi 1/2" cordless drill chuck. 3/4". There were a lot of burrs and thin strips of metal on the opposite side of the stainless steel, but with the help of needle nose pliers I…

But doesn't work smoothly. . .

I bought this to fit a new bushing in my Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker. My model was an older model and didn't come with a sleeve that allows temperature sensors to pass through and control the temperature inside the smoker and smoked meat. When I bought the bushings (there were 2 in the pack) Revain recommended this bit to drill a hole in the smoker so I could install the new bushing. I already have a drill bit like this from a well known brand BUT it wasn't big enough to fit the socket I…
