I bought this to fit a new bushing in my Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker. My model was an older model and didn't come with a sleeve that allows temperature sensors to pass through and control the temperature inside the smoker and smoked meat. When I bought the bushings (there were 2 in the pack) Revain recommended this bit to drill a hole in the smoker so I could install the new bushing. I already have a drill bit like this from a well known brand BUT it wasn't big enough to fit the socket I bought. So since I needed it to get my project up and running and since it was about 25% of what I paid for another one, I bought it. Also, I took into account that I would probably only need to use it once, so it made sense to purchase this product at the same time as the pads. When the spacers and drill arrived I was pleased and excited. I cleaned the outside of the smoker where I was going to drill, then put masking tape on the marked spot to try and prevent the enamel from chipping. Then I started drilling. The tape seemed like a good idea at the time, but it quickly detached and got stuck in the drill. I ended up removing the tape about 1/3 completely for drilling. I had to make a 1 and 1/4 inch diameter hole which was the penultimate step on the bit. I tried not to move too fast because I was afraid I would overdo it and poke a hole too. big, and then I would go really mad because I would ruin my smoker. So I took my time and kept going. When I got about 3/4 of the way, the bit wasn't very smooth - not quite like my other brand of drill bit. I was even more afraid that I would mess up my smoker and it made me nervous about using this bit. However, that's as far as I've come, and at this point there was no turning back. So I pushed, but carefully. The biggest problem I had was that the bat would get tangled in the hole with every step it took on the bat and I had to be careful not to cut my fingers or get dirty. bore or ruin the smoker. This was frustrating because the drilling process was not smooth at all. Eventually, however, I reached the breaking point. and took out the bat. I could see an ugly ridge of sharp metal hanging out of the hole I just created. So I put the drill bit on the other side of the hole and very carefully drilled through that side just long enough to get rid of it and make the hole pretty smooth. I was finally able to install the feedthrough and breathed a sigh of relief that I hadn't screwed up my smoker. I'm sharing all of this with you, the reader, to let you know that this product actually worked, BUT it didn't work. very slick and if the brand name I had was big enough I would have happily used it instead. Knowing what I know now, I would like to warn you against purchasing this drill and remind you of my experience with this drill. It can do the job but you have to be very careful with it or you might mess something up that you can't fix later and that would be very very bad I think. I am giving this product 3/5 stars because it did the job and the price was good but you get what you pay for and you definitely need to be careful with it.
