After the original mirror on my Corolla lost out due to bin crunching, this unit served as the perfect replacement. It's made to almost identical OEM specifications and fits perfectly. Removing the inner door panel was most of the work, removing two screws and carefully prying the panel out of the friction fasteners on the edges. The mirror block itself is held in place by three 10mm bolts that go through the mounting plate. Unfortunately, removing the inner panel is unavoidable, since the device's power connection is a few centimeters further than the fastening screws, which cannot be attributed to the manufacturer. The mirror housing comes with a separate standard black cover that snaps open after installation, giving the installer the ability to match the color to the rest of the car - a trip to the local auto parts store provided me with the correct aftermarket paint finish and clear coat Combination. Snapping the cover into place after painting is a bit tricky and care must be taken not to break one or more of the plastic hooks that attach the cover to the mirror. Prep the surface for your chosen color - I applied three coats of Duplicolor spray, waited about 20 minutes between coats, and sanded *very* lightly between coats. I applied three coats of ClearCoat in the same way, again with very light sanding, although I suspect I didn't wait long enough between coats; The finish looks good but lacks the smooth finish I was expecting. But that's my fault, not the mirror manufacturer's fault. I wholeheartedly recommend this mirror and encourage any DIY enthusiast to try this replacement project. Apart from the painting, the replacement itself took between 30 minutes and an hour maximum - a very easy job.
