Great concept, maybe it works well on softwoods?

Amazing concept. Has a long history. Warning: DO NOT USE ON WOOD! I received this thing yesterday, very excited to use it on a project I bought it specifically for. The beautiful red oak has split almost half of the pockets I've drilled. With my cordless drill at high speed, it doesn't matter. Still breaking up. I gave it two stars because the clamp and guide seem to work well, but the bit will split hard wood even when moving slowly.
