Review on Takumi Bamboo Circular Knitting Needles, 9-Inch, Size 7 (3016/9-07) by Lori Aguirre

The tree slows me down

I love, love, love wood. So I tried them and in fact I own a whole set of needles from this brand. This particular purchase was made simply because I couldn't find the size I needed in any other carrier. Wood, while pleasing to my senses, noticeably slows my progress. At first I thought it was my imagination, but after really paying attention, I was convinced that I work more slowly with them. Strong and of very good quality, they are great for beginner knitters who want their stitches to slow down. But for me, stopping to "advance" stitches slows progress and I'm always excited to see the end result of my work! As a brand note, I've also found that on much larger needles from size 10 and up, the tip rounds out over time, and this forces me to "help" each stitch move from one needle to the next. So I don't use them anymore unless I need that size and there's another metal project. I want to emphasize that all of these things that are problems for me are attributes of a beginner knitter who will have trouble keeping the stitches on the needles and that's why this might be a great brand for you. But I need to slide over the needle quickly and easily, so I don't prefer it. I gave a three star rating not because of the product itself which is beautifully finished and durable; but because I don't find them to be the best (for my need for speed) comparable to other mediums like silver plated or even plastic which I thought slowed me down before I hit them. YES, I say they slow the pace MORE than the plastic ones.
