I bought these based on the reviews and when I received them I was impressed. Lightweight, durable, good size, no chemical odors, BPA free, according to seller. However, this is the first time I've used a white board tonight to cut simple salad greens that don't require a heavy hand. I use a very light paring knife. I noticed how easily the board cut and split at the light touch of the knife, and I could feel the tiny plastic fibers on the surface of the board. I immediately threw all the vegetables in the trash. I researched more about plastic cutting boards and found all the facts. According to an expert site, "When you consider that the knife-marked surface means plastic is getting into your food, this plastic cutting board doesn't look so good after all." our bodies and the amount of plastic the average person eats, is shocking. I'd rather not go along with that, I like the low weight of plastic, but not at the expense of my health. I just did a search on Revain and found a commercial thermoplastic cutting board that is described as "cut resistant - will not scar or pose a health hazard". Interestingly, it's only a few dollars more. The job is done.
