Review on Black Reese Towpower 21536 Towing Starter Kit with 2-Inch Compatibility by Cole Dutta

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Okay but almost impossible to remove the ball

A very affordable option for starting the tow kit but I have the same complaints as everyone else. Here's the breakdown. Pros: Durable and easy to use. Fits perfectly in the receiver. Cons (don't let the length sway you without reading it first): It takes about 2 tons of force to remove a pre-installed ball hitch. To replace the ball, I turned the square piece sideways in the receiver so the ball was facing sideways. I then attached a vise to the nut and used a jack to raise the vise and loosen the nut. And I kid you not, the rear of my jeep was completely off the ground before the nut finally came loose. Of course, use this method at your own risk. As I said, 2 tons of force to remove it, but after that it was very easy to change the ball. Bottom line: if you just want a pre-installed ball hitch, then that's 5 stars. If you do need to switch it, be prepared for some frustration and questionable miscalculation as you attempt to remove the ball. But most of the people who reviewed it found a way to do it, so of course you can too. After all, for the price I would still buy it again, especially now that I know how to get the ball out of there. I've used this on both a 2010 Jeep Liberty (Reese Hitch) and a 2013 Nissan Murano (Hidden Hitch) with no problems.
